THE CET is an editorial lifestyle publication. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through thecetmag.com, how we use it and the choices available to you.
Information you provide
You may provide information directly to THE CET when you:
- join THE CET Letter or create a free member account, including your email address and any information you add to your member profile;
- update your subscription or communication preferences; or
- contact us, including the information contained in your message and any information you choose to share.
THE CET does not offer paid memberships at launch.
Information collected automatically
THE CET is hosted on Ghost(Pro) and uses Ghost’s currently enabled native site, member and email analytics. Depending on how you interact with the site, this may include:
- page views, unique visits, referral or member-source information and approximate location information;
- technical information associated with a request, such as IP address, browser or device information;
- for logged-in members, a member identifier and the content viewed; and
- newsletter delivery and engagement information, including whether an email was opened and whether a link was clicked.
Ghost’s native web analytics are first-party and cookie-free. They do not use cookies or other persistent browser storage to identify visitors across sessions, browsers or devices. Ghost may use cookies or similar storage where needed for member sign-in, account functionality, security and other essential site features.
If you follow an affiliate or other external link, the destination website and its service providers may collect information under their own privacy policies and may use cookies or similar technologies. THE CET does not control those third-party practices.
Online Tracking and Do Not Track
THE CET has not configured custom code to change Ghost’s native analytics behavior in response to a browser Do Not Track signal. As currently configured, a Do Not Track signal does not change the operation of THE CET’s native analytics.
Ghost’s native web analytics are first-party and cookie-free and do not use persistent browser storage to identify visitors across sessions, browsers or devices. THE CET does not use Ghost’s native analytics to track visitors across third-party websites over time.
Third-party retailers, affiliate services and other websites reached through outbound links may use their own tracking technologies and may respond differently to browser privacy signals. Their practices are governed by their own privacy policies and are outside THE CET’s control.
How we use information
We use information to:
- operate, secure and maintain the site;
- provide free membership and newsletter features you request;
- send THE CET Letter and related service messages;
- understand readership, traffic sources and content engagement;
- improve the site, editorial coverage and reader experience;
- respond to correspondence, questions and requests; and
- administer affiliate links and understand when a qualifying transaction may generate a commission.
Service providers and third parties
We use service providers that support hosting, site functionality, member accounts, newsletter delivery and analytics. These currently include Ghost(Pro) and providers used as part of Ghost’s infrastructure and native analytics.
THE CET also uses affiliate programs operated by Amazon Associates and Mavely/Later Creator. When you follow an affiliate link, the applicable affiliate network, retailer and their service providers may receive information about the click and any resulting transaction so the referral can be tracked. Their handling of information is governed by their own policies.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to protect the site, address fraud or security concerns, comply with legal process or meet applicable legal obligations.
Sale of personal information
Based on THE CET’s current launch practices, THE CET does not sell member email addresses or reader personal information to third parties for money. Affiliate commissions may be earned when a reader follows a tracked link and makes a qualifying purchase; THE CET does not sell member email addresses to retailers or affiliate partners.
Your choices and requests
You can unsubscribe from THE CET Letter using the unsubscribe link included in an email. Where available, you can also manage your email preferences or member information through Ghost’s member-account features.
To ask what personal information THE CET maintains about you, request a correction or request deletion, email thecetmag@gmail.com from the email address connected with your membership or correspondence. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary for security, recordkeeping or legal obligations.
Policy changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the publication or its services change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made. If a change materially affects how we handle reader information, we will provide an appropriate notice on the site or by email where appropriate.
